On Tuesday the 22nd of June 2003, Airbus delivered the first Airbus A318. US airline Frontier accepted the brand-new type at the Airbus plant in Hamburg. This event attracted a lot of aviation enthusiasts. N801FR is being towed to the threshold. The short bodied version of single-aisle A319 was formally announced at the Farnborough Air Show in September 1998. Final assembly started at Hamburg on 9th of August 2001, with first flight taking place on 15th of January 2002.
