This Boeing
737-883, named Thorgrim Viking, entered traffic
with SAS on the 28th of June 2000, just eight days after
it was delivered
to Scandinavian Airlines. The
737-600/700/800/900 models are powered by new CFM56-7 engines produced by CFMI, a joint venture of General Electric
Co. of the U.S. and Snecma of France. The engines meet community noise restrictions well below current Stage 3 limits
and below expected Stage 4 limits. The CFM56-7 has a 10 percent higher thrust capability than the CFM56-3C engines powering the 737-300/-400/-500 models. To take additional
advantage of the engine's increased thrust, the new 737 models' vertical fin and horizontal stabilizer are larger.
